General lifestyle + wedding FAQs

WHAT IS YOUR STYLE OF SHOOTING?

Classic, romantic and natural. Essentially I want you to be yourselves and let me capture who you are - quirks and all, so my shooting style is very candid, relaxed and quite intimate. I aim to capture real, raw and un-staged moments - as they naturally unfold before me. But don’t worry, if you are thinking, “we're awkward, we don't know how to stand, we're not photo people” during portraits I will guide you when needed and make it as fun as possible along the way.

WHERE ARE YOU BASED AND DO YOU TRAVEL?

I am based on the beautiful Gold Coast, here in Queensland Australia! And most definitely I am down to travel. Please be advised for lifestyle shoots outside of the Gold Coast will incur a $50 travel fee. Travel is included in my wedding packages if you are in/between Brisbane and Tweed Heads, anything outside of it will incur a travel fee. For destination weddings, that requires flights, a minimum of 2 days accommodation is also required. Please get in for a personalised quote.

HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT FOR MY PHOTOS?

You can expect your images for lifestyle (couples/engagement, maternity & family) to be delivered in 4 weeks. For weddings and birth photography, turnaround time will be between 6-8 weeks (8 weeks for peak birth and wedding season). For the birth/day series monthly photos - you will receive access to an ongoing gallery and will receive those images within 2 weeks - the maternity shoot, fresh 48 and family photos will have the same lifestyle delivery times.

HOW WILL WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS

Your high resolution images will be delivered digitally via an online gallery with download links. Photo books will be delivered personally when possible or via courier.

FOR OUR LIFESTYLE SESSIONS - WHAT DO WE WEAR? HELP!

I got ya! Once you have paid your deposit for the shoot I will flick you through a What to Wear Guide full of helpful suggestions and advice. You'll nail it. The aim is to wear something that you are comfortable in and feel best in (and maybe not afraid to get it a little dirty or wet if it comes to it)

I always advise to bring an extra outfit or two if you wish to change or need to change if you do end up getting dirty or wet. I am currently building a client wardrobe - so watch this space for when it is available!

CAN I HAVE ACCESS TO ALL THE UNEDITED IMAGES?

No, sorry. I choose the images that I feel are the best reflection of the day and of you. I then edit them with the style you have booked me for.

HOW DO WE BOOK?

For lifestyle shoots (Couple/Engagement, Maternity + Family), a $50 non-refundable booking + session fee is required along with a signed contract. The remaining balance is to be paid 2 days prior to your booked session date.

For weddings, to reserve your date, a non-refundable booking fee and our signed contract is required.
Micro Deposit - $318.00
VI Deposit - $498.00
X Deposit - $598.00
Unfortunately we cannot hold any dates without the booking fee and a signed contract. An updated invoice that reflects your paid fee and confirms your booking will be provided as soon as your non-refundable fee has been paid. The remaining balance is due no later than 14 days before your wedding date.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME FOR PORTRAITS?

The late afternoon light is the best, usually around an hour before the sun sets. This hour is called the golden hour and you'll generally have beautiful romantic light during this time.

CAN I GIVE MY OTHER SUPPLIERS COPIES OF THE PHOTOS?

Unfortunately not. Your wedding photographs are not free advertising material for other vendors. If they ask you for the photos please have them email me for more information.

WHAT IF WE NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?

At the time of booking you will pay a booking fee for me to hold your date and turn away all other potential clients. This deposit is legally non-refundable. The booking fee can be moved to a new date if someone else books your original date. Please chat with me further if you need to cancel or reschedule.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BOOK A MATERNITY SHOOT?

Around 33-37 weeks is the ideal time to have a maternity session.

DO YOU RESCHEDULE YOUR OUTDOOR SESSIONS IF THERE IS A BAD WEATHER FORECAST?

I usually take a wait and see approach with weather forecasts for rain/storms. I will consult with you on the day and usually will make a call on whether the session will go ahead about an hour before the scheduled session. If it is rainy, stormy or windy ( we don't want you to look windswept with hair in your face etc), we will reschedule to another date that suits us both!

DO YOU OFFER A CLIENT WARDROBE?

Unfortunately I do not but this is something that I am currently working on providing! So watch this space!

Birth photography FAQs

WHY SHOULD I GET A BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHER?

Outside the birth of your baby, your wedding was probably the biggest day of your life. You probably had a professional photographer, or even two, to cover that event. You wanted to trust the final product would represent your special day and have all your love ones relaxed and in the shots.

Having an experienced birth photographer there will ensure that your birth story is told through powerful images of raw human emotion. It will give you the details that you might miss from your hospital bed. It allows your family to support you and not to worry about missing a moment. It ensures the little details are captured that someone less experienced might not think to photograph. It allows your husband to hold your hand and be fully present. The hours of labour and delivery will pass just as quickly as the hours of your wedding day but your birth photographer will make sure you have the details of the day captured to relive for years to come.

WHAT IF I GET TO HYSTERICAL? THINGS BECOME INTENSE?

I'm a birth photographer, and your birth isn't our first. We've seen it all before. Different women respond differently to birth and that's 100% ok! You can be confident that nothing you do will surprise us. As a mother of three myself, I've done it all - scream, yell, swear, ignore everyone in the room, go into the zone, vomit, cry, beg for it to stop — it won't rattle me. I actually love the intensity of labour and birth!

I'M CONCERNED ABOUT HOW MUCH WILL BE CAPTURED..I'M VERY MODEST.

It's very normal to have this thought. But don't worry! We tailor your experience to your preferences. Some mummas want everything captured, like full nudity, the crowning, the placenta, breastfeeding – and some don't. We consider being in that space an honour and we believe it is sacred, so we are very sensitive to the needs and comfort of our clients.

WHEN DO WE CALL YOU?

We're on call from 38 weeks (although we would still try and be there if the baby wants to make an early appearance). We ask our mums to keep in touch with us via text if they feel like they're getting close. Its great to know if the hospital has been called and what your midwife is recommending.

Depending on which package you book, we then come to the hospital or your home and capture all the moments as they happen. We can’t ever 100% guarantee to capture everything – birth is so highly unpredictable and sometimes things outside of our control can stop us from getting to you on time. However, we currently have a team of photographers, so no matter when you go into labour one of us should be able to get there!

DO I NEED TO CHECK WITH MY MIDWIFE/DR IF THEY ALLOW A PHOTOGRAPHER?

Yes! Absolutely! Especially in the current climate of Covid-19 and hospital restrictions are happening. Most hospitals are very good and allow birth photographers but it is always good to check how many "support" people are allowed in the birth suite.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY LABOUR GOES TOO LONG?

We will stay there as long as it takes! There are no timelines when it comes to birth and we are fully prepared for that.

CAN WE MEET BEFORE WE BOOK?

Definitely! And I encourage this - because giving birth heavily relies on having a safe space, surrounded by people you can comfortably be around. This will also give us the opportunity to go through any questions you or your partner may have.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BOOK YOU FOR OUR BIRTH?

First and foremost, contact me to see if I have your due date available as I only take on a limited number of births per year. If I do, then I require a non-refundable deposit of $298 and a signed contract. The remaining balance is to be paid 2 weeks before your due date.

Birth/day series FAQs

WHAT IS IT?

It is simply a whole entire year of your baby(s) life documented. From bump to first birthday - and everything in between. I am literally your personal photographer for the first year of your baby(s) life.

WHAT DOES THE PACKAGE CONSIST OF?

We will do a 1 hour maternity shoot between 30-36 weeks pregnant.

Then once you have your baby, I'll come visit you at the hospital or home and shoot you, your family and newborn in the first 48 hours of baby being born. If you decided to add in the birth photography package, then this shoot will be transferred as a credit to be used however you want (usually an updated family portrait at 2 years or 'another baby on the way' maternity shoot).

Then every month from your baby's birth, I will come hang for 10mins and capture your everyday - very documentary style (hence the series). It can consist of a walk to the park, first time having solids, first steps etc.

Then we will finish off with a 1 hour first birthday family portrait session.

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL I RECEIVE + HOW DOES THE SERIES PHOTOS BE UPLOADED?

For the maternity shoot, fresh 48 and 1 year family portrait - you will receive between 20-30 images to be delivered within 4 weeks to an online gallery. For the 10min monthly series photos, you will receive 15 images delivered within 2 weeks of shooting in an ongoing online gallery.

I will send a sneak peek for all shoots, so that you are able to share with friends and family within 24 hours.

WHAT ELSE IS INCLUDED?

You will receive a beautiful album documenting your baby(s) first year earthside. Along with all images edited + delivered on an online gallery with a wooden keepsake USB and album box.

WHY WAS THIS CREATED?

I created this equally for mums + bubs - to celebrate them both. We really only document babies professionally when they are newborns and miss all the glorious milestones in between. A babies first year is the biggest in terms of growth. The grow so fast in such little time. You don't want to miss a moment.

And for our beautiful mums (and the odd dad), for too long, someone has been the one constantly stuck behind the camera, rarely being in the photos. This is me, help putting a stop to that! It is time to be in the photos! Allow someone to capture you, your baby and family beautifully as you are. Think of it as your beloved album that your mum has of you growing up but bit more elegant.

FOR THE ALBUM, CAN WE CHOOSE WHAT PHOTOS GO IN?

A little yes, haha if that makes sense. I will definitely ask for your input in the final spread before it heads off to be printed. I will mostly be choosing the photos to be represent the series and ones that convey the story clearly.
